The Malaysian-born Taiwanese director Ming Liang's movie 'I don't want to sleep alone' was shown at the last day of the Festival Nouveau Cinema on October 28th. The movie consists in daily life stories of individuals living in poor Asian neighborhood. These stories are sometimes connected, sometimes not, or maybe there is a connection - but on another level.
The movie is a mixture between fiction and documentary. It is a slow paste movie which gives the viewer a chance to analyze the beautiful images in detail. The static camera for each scene illustrates this impression.
