The independent movie Helvetica was screened on May, 05, 2007 at Concordia University, Montreal. The movie is not only about the font Helvetica itself, but also about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. Around 700 people attended this event which was followed by a talk of the movie's director Gary Hustwit.

He explained that he did not promote his movie, he just set up a web site. However, he believes that his movie's success is based on people's need to see documentaries about design issues as they simply not exist. He claimed that very important celebrities in the design scence have not been in shown in front of a camera before this movie. The movie will be shown in many other cities around the world.
