Classic German literature in a contemporary way

On February 24, 2007 Goethe's Werther was presented at at Usine C. The production was executed by Nicolas Stemann, Werther was represented by Philipp Hochmair. Video projections, which were set by the actor itself, or musicplayed a big role in the stage setting. The actor seemed to perform in a very spontaneous way, i.e. he was interacting with the French subtitles, which were projected on the big screen. There was a also continuous interaction with the public: When he threw cabbage into the public or when he was searching for the potential "Albert" whom he was asking to give him a weapon, or when he had to leave using typical wordings from Quebec. This old German literature did not seem to be from the time it had been written at all.
